Chile and Argentina 2013
South America is a dream destination for many and a perfect place for a wine tour in March, the best time to enjoy the southern harvest. Why not join us in 2013 and make your friends jealous? We have many fine wines and bodegas, 4 and 5 star hotels in the heart of the wine country and lots of fine meals too. Ever wondered what (Andean) Napa was like 20 or 30 years ago? Join the tour.
We meet in Santiago on the 13th of March and enjoy a wonderful 8 day trip across mutliple wine regions. From the most famous names to the independents and from the capital to the heart of the Colchagua wine country, you're in for a range of highlights across our 4 days and nights in Chile:
Day 1 features a trip to Pacific hugging Casa Marin (pictured above) where we enjoy a barbeque lamb lunch to follow our trip to Pablo Neruda's coastal house, before we make our way south along Chile's route 66 to our hotel in a vineyard in Colchagua for a 2 night stay
Day 2 contrasts the tiny producer of Polkura wines with the aristocratic setting of Casa Lapostolle, followed by a bit of R&R in the vineyard hotel (horseback or pool, you choose)
Day 3 features the magnificent wines and vistas of Altair on our way back to the capital, where we settle into a 4 star hotel in the Providencia area for 2 nights
Day 4 takes us to the stunning setting of the Aconcagua valley where we round off the Chilean visits with lunch at Errazuriz and then a last Chilean night toast back in the capital
Day 5 takes us across the Andes by bus for an unforgettable trip through the highest peaks in South America before a fine dinner at La Bourgogne to welcome us to Argentina
From the 17th of March, we are based in Mendoza at a luxurious 5 star hotel, our base for a series of further wine adventures, this time on the eastern side of the Andes:
Day 6 provides a highlight of the trip as we get the chance to participate in the harvest at Familia Zuccardi, after which we earn the right to a traditional Argentinian asado beef lunch at the bodega. A slow afternoon in store.
Day 7 hits the heights again with a visit to the highly renowned O Fournier bodega in the Uco valley, followed by lunch at the delightful setting of Andeluna
Day 8 gives you a bit of free time to enjoy the locality (or pool) before a last night visit to Vistalba followed by a very fine last night dinner at Azafran in Mendoz
We end the tour at breakfast on the 21st of March, with a host of memories to share.
